Important Update

The British Columbia Tourism Industry Awards have grown significantly in the last eleven years, in part through the continued support of sponsors and B.C.'s tourism industry. Award nominees have regularly raised the bar for excellence by setting exceptional standards and demonstrating the many reasons why B.C. holds a reputation for being a world-class destination.

Due to a number of factors including the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, budget constraints and other challenges, Tourism BC will not be holding the British Columbia Tourism Industry Awards program this year.

The Awards remain an important part of B.C.'s tourism industry and in the coming months we will have more information on the future direction of the program.

The British Columbia Tourism Industry Awards were established in 1999 by Tourism British Columbia and The Council of Tourism Associations of BC. Since the inaugural event, the Awards program has grown substantially. Currently, nine awards are open to competition amongst BC's top tourism industry contributors and innovators. They include:
  • Tourism Industry Leader of the Year Award
  • Best Tourism Marketing Campaign Award
  • Environmentally Responsible Tourism Award
  • Tourism Media Award
  • Foresight Sustainability Award
  • WorldHost® Training Services Customer Service Award
  • Technology in Tourism Award
  • Employees First Award
  • Sport Tourism Community Legacy Award

Historically, the awards presentation takes place during the BC Tourism Industry Conference, during an evening celebration that attracts the best and brightest of the province's tourism industry. For more information on the Tourism Industry Conference, visit www.bctourismindustryconference.ca.
