Travel Trade Programs - North America

North America is BC's most important market in terms of proximity, size and existing level of consumer awareness.  Key areas for visitor revenue include: regional BC; Alberta, Washington and California; and longer-haul markets Ontario and Mexico.

Tourism BC programs promote both quick getaways and longer-stay vacations to travel trade and consumers with a focus on increasing visitation year-round, in particular, shoulder season getaways, winter/ski holidays, and summer touring and cruising. Programs encourage travel through all six regions of the province by emphasizing the unique benefits of each region and product sector.  Travel trade development takes place through media relations, trade shows, familiarization tours and cooperative marketing programs.

The Opportunity

Tourism BC works closely with key account tour operators and travel agents in major markets to increase visitor volume, and expand seasonality and distribution of tour programs in the province.  In addition, we educate key travel trade partners about the unique travel experiences BC has to offer.  We work closely with the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), BC destination management organizations (DMOs), BC Regions and other Canadian provinces.
