British Columbia Visitor Centres
Tourism British Columbia operates six British Columbia Visitor Centres at strategic border-entry points and travel corridors throughout the province. These centres are positioned to provide a world-class experience for visitors resulting in increased visitation to British Columbia tourism products and services. Each centre strives to represent the broad range of tourism opportunities available throughout the province, while reflecting the unique attributes of the local environment.
British Columbia Visitor Centres are located at Vancouver International Airport (two centres), Peace Arch Border Crossing, Merritt, Mount Robson Provincial Park, Golden and Osoyoos. All locations provide a full suite of services, including trip planning, publication displays, accommodation reservations, activity and transportation ticketing, and Super, Natural British Columbia® souvenir sales. In 2008, these centres served more than 545,000 visitors.
Tourism businesses should ensure Visitor Information Counsellors have access to up-to-date information by registering products and services in Tourism BC’s HelloBC® Listings Program. To maximize sales opportunities, businesses should sign up for the HELLOBC Reservations Service which allows Counsellors to reserve or sell product directly to the consumer. Brochure racking is available with discounts at multiple locations.
Community Visitor Centres
More than 100 community-based Visitor Centres throughout British Columbia comprise the Visitor Centre Network. Visitor Information Counsellors have a direct impact on the visitors’ impression of British Columbia, encouraging longer stays and travel in all regions of the province. In 2008, the Community Visitor Centres served over 2,500,000 visitors.
More than 25 community Visitor Centres participate in the Product Sale Program and all have access to HelloBC.com listings.
