Becoming a WorldHost® Trainer

WorldHost® Training Services workshops are offered in communities across the province through a range of delivery options. To be certified, all potential trainers must attend a Train-the-Trainer session led by a Master Trainer from Tourism BC.

Tourism BC works in partnership with Delivery Organizations (businesses, Chambers of Commerce, private training companies etc.) who coordinate, promote and administer the workshops to ensure training is accessible, affordable and innovative.

Delivery Organizations select and endorse trainers to represent WorldHost Training Services in their territory. Trainers must first become certified in the WorldHost® Training Services Fundamentals program.

Train-the-Trainer workshops are offered in the following programs:

    • Fundamentals (3 days)
    • Japanese Service Expectations (1 day)
    • Customers with Disabilities (1 day)
    • Service Across Cultures (1 day)
    • Sales Powered By Service (half-day)
    • Solving Problems Through Service (half-day)
    • Ambassador Workshop (1 day)

Community Trainers

Community Trainers require endorsement from the Delivery Organization’s local area coordinator. You are required to attend the full Fundamentals Train-the-Trainer session.

NOTE: Upon completion of the Train-the-Trainer workshop, community facilitators will only be qualified to lead workshops within the territory in which they are endorsed. Endorsement by the appropriate Delivery Organization coordinator is required to lead workshops in any other region.

Corporate Trainers

These trainers are on staff (i.e. not contract status) at a business. You are required to attend the full Fundamentals Train-the-Trainer session.

NOTE: Upon completion of the Train-the-Trainer workshop, corporate trainers will only be qualified to lead WorldHost® Training Services within the business or organization where they are employed. To pursue community delivery status, they require endorsement from the local area Delivery Organization coordinator.

Post-secondary instructors

Post-secondary instructors on staff (i.e. non contract status) who deliver base-funded training of a minimum 28 weeks, and who have approval from their Dean or appropriate decision-maker are eligible. You are required to stay for two full days of the Fundamentals Train-the-Trainer.

NOTE: Upon completion of the Train-the-Trainer workshop, post-secondary instructors will only be qualified to lead WorldHost® Training Services within the post-secondary base-funded program system. To pursue community delivery status (this includes continuing education programs), you require endorsement from the local area Delivery Organization coordinator and must attend all three days of Fundamentals.

High-school Teachers

You must be a certified high-school teacher who leads Tourism or Career Prep programs in the BC school system and have approval from your Principal or appropriate decision-maker. Attendance is required at day one of the Fundamentals Train-the-Trainer workshop and full participation for any of the other programs.

NOTE: Upon completion of the Train-the-Trainer workshop, teachers will only be qualified to lead WorldHost® Training Services within the BC high-school system. BC Certified School teachers are not required to start with the WorldHost® Training Services Fundamentals program.

Non-certified High-school Support Staff

If you are a non-certified high-school support staff, you must have approval from your Principal or appropriate decision-maker. You are required to stay for all three days of the Fundamentals program.
