Preparing for the 2010 Olympic Games

As BC prepares to host the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Tourism BC is focused on preparing the province’s customer service professionals to welcome the world.

Team 2010 Training

WorldHost® Training Services is partnering with the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) to deliver the “Team 2010” workshop to key stakeholders in the region. We aim to ensure a consistent message of enthusiasm and passion across the province.

The primary objectives of the Team 2010 training workshop are:

  • To unite participants as “Team 2010” members with a common understanding of the mission, vision and values for 2010 and beyond.
  • "Olympics and Paralympics 101" – to provide participants with a general orientation to the 2010 Winter Games, including history of the games, venue and host city information, event descriptions and athlete profiles.
  • To ready participants with customer service skills and communication strategies for assisting visitors across cultures and/or visitors with disabilities.
  • To educate participants on the focus of sustainability and the Legacy of Safety.

This workshop encourages all participants to share in the excitement of Vancouver 2010 and contribute to the making of the most successful Olympic and Paralympic Games in history!

WorldHost® Training Services is also offering “2010 Game Plan” – a 40 minute presentation with a specific focus on the Olympics.

Additional 2010 initiatives are underway with 2010 Legacies Now, the RCMP and the Provincial Visitor Centres Network.
