Tourism BC’s HelloBC Blogs won the Gold Award for Innovation for public sector organizations at the first Canadian e-Tourism Awards held on November 8th in Vancouver. The award recognizes use of technology to leverage consumer trends, enhance usability and contribute to strategic alignment. Nominations were judged on wow factor, use of technology, and consumer relevance.

Launched in 2005, the site included blogs by Tourism BC staff and eventually visitor centres, aimed at providing tips for traveling in BC. In March 2007, the site opened up to consumers and became a popular forum for travellers wanting to share their experiences. The success of the HelloBC Blogs could not be recognized without the contribution of the many visitors who promoted the site and have shared their stories about travelling in BC.
